FOCUS North America is a faith-based national organization that works to transform the lives of the homeless and working poor across the nation. FOCUS has operations and programs in 50 cities throughout the United States, and is dedicated to providing its services without discrimination of any kind. They do not require any faith commitment from anyone they help.

“FOCUS is different from other organizations because they place a premium on helping people through the creation and development of community support networks,” said Steve Feldman, our President and Co-Founder.

Most of the people who receive help at FOCUS come from generations of poverty, neglect and a lack of support. FOCUS creates a comprehensive support network that gives people opportunities and support through all phases of their transition from lives of dependency to self-sufficiency.

“We couldn’t be happier to partner with FOCUS, a charity that so greatly aligns with our overall charitable mission,” said Feldman. He continued, “Renovation Angel was created to support charities exactly like FOCUS, and I have great confidence in their Executive Director Nicholas Chakos’s ability to continue their great work in the future.”

More on Focus North America

FOCUS offers assistance in the following areas:

FOOD: FOCUS provides fully prepared meals to the homeless and supplemental food pantry items to families who are struggling to make ends meet. In 2014, FOCUS provided more than 147,000 hot meals and over $4,000,000 worth of non-perishable food and household items across America.

OCCUPATION: FOCUS’ job training and creation program works with unemployed and under-employed people to re-train them in skills and professions that lead to sustainable employment. FOCUS operates a national network of job search facilities in disadvantaged communities where people can come to search for and apply for gainful employment. In 2014, FOCUS trained and employed more than 1,100 people.

CLOTHING: FOCUS collects gently used clothing and furniture and distributes these items to those in need. In 2014, FOCUS distributed more than 513,000 articles of clothing including back-to-school support for 192,500 homeless and poor children in 28 cities. FOCUS has also outfitted dozens of residences with furniture to assist families transitioning out of homelessness.

UNDERSTANDING: FOCUS works with local government, corporate and community partners to understand the specific needs of local communities and to leverage the capabilities of each stakeholder. FOCUS is experienced at bringing together diverse coalitions, so each partner can learn from each other, and combine our individual strengths for the greater good of our communities and for those who are suffering in our nation.

SHELTER: FOCUS operates a number of housing related projects; we operate homeless shelters, transitional homes for individuals and families, we renovate and repair homes for senior citizens living on fixed incomes, and we provide assistance with securing permanent housing for the working poor. In 2014, FOCUS provided shelter and housing support for more than 1,200 people.
